5 Tips For Healthy Hair

This post is sponsored by Pantene, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hey friends! Today I am writing about a topic I get LOTS of questions on How do I keep my hair healthy? I have some simple tips and products that I have been using for a while that I truly believe have kept my hair shiny, smooth, and healthy.

1. Eat whole foods

I never really understood this concept until a few years ago! I noticed that once I started eating whole, nourishing foods my hair really started to shine. I try to drink a green smoothie every morning and add a scoop of collagen (which helps keep your hair strong). Omega 3 fatty acids are proven to aid in hair health and growth. Some foods proven to work are berries, salmon, spinach, avocados, nuts, flaxseed, chia seed, bananas, beans, etc. I have been drinking this smoothie nearly every single morning that is loaded with some of the foods I mentioned above. Here’s the recipe:

1 1/2 cup mixed frozen berries

1 frozen banana

1 cup spinach

½ avocado

1 Tbsp flaxseed

1 Tbsp chia seed

1 Tbsp collagen

1/4 cup nut milk

If you have noticed your hair is brittle and dry, try changing up your diet and I promise you will see results!

2. Avoid heat

I know this is a classic, but I swear it works! I used to blow-dry and straighten my hair every single day (even though I have naturally straight hair) and my hair was always breaking and simply wouldn’t grow. It stuck just past my shoulder-length for years until I stopped using frequent heat. For the last 6 years, I have only used heat on my hair around once a week and it finally started to grow again! When you are using heat on your hair make sure to use the Pantene Miracle Rescue Multitasking 10 in 1 spray.  It not only moisturizes and protects against breakage, but it also acts as a heat protectant.

3. Be gentle

Avoid brushing out tough knots! I use a wet brush and I brush my hair right as I get out of the shower. If you have knots or brittle hair try using a leave-in conditioner or treatment beforehand to smooth it out. I have been using Pantene Miracle Rescue Deep Conditioning Treatment and it makes my hair feel so silky smooth and soft afterward! If you are a beach girl, never brush your hair with salt water in it! Always rinse it with fresh water before brushing. Brushing out your hair with salt can cause a lot of breakage and damage.  Along with the deep conditioning treatment, I also use Pantene's Miracle Rescue Intense Rescue Shot.  This product helps to deeply restore my ocean-quenched hair and further protects against future damage as I soak up the sun.

4. Protect against sun exposure

Most of the damage my hair experiences is from the sun! I get lots and lots of rays, especially on my ends. I have used Pantene shampoo and conditioner for years, but after recently adding the new Pantene Pro-V Miracle Rescue Collection it has really helped! Circling back to the Multitasking Spray, I love it because it protects against UV exposure, which has saved me because I am constantly outdoors. It also helps detangle, protect against heat, repair damaged hair, and helps with shine and strength.

5. Avoid dying/ bleaching hair

Surprisingly, I have never dyed my hair before! I think that avoiding dyes and bleach is a big reason why my hair is healthy and shiny! If you like to dye your hair, then go for it! Just make sure you are doing things to help repair your hair and keep it moisturized. Bleach is naturally very drying and will make ends break and brittle. If you are used to paying for $60 treatments after processing your hair, the Pantene Miracle Rescue Collection is a non-expensive way to repair signs of damage just like one!

So there you have it, my 5 tips for healthy hair! I am #ReadyForMore fun in the sun, thanks to the new Pantene Pro-V Miracle Rescue Collection!  What are you ready for?  I want to hear all of your tips, so comment below and share with others!  Be sure to check out this collection in-store and online @Target.

Xx, Maddie
